0 Vegan white sauce recipe/ Vegan roux recipe


Chefs vegan white sauce recipe is exactly what a vegan meal may need sometimes for that extra creamy taste.

There are only a few ingredients needed for this vegan white sauce recipe, it is a very simple recipe to cook.

White sauce can be used with pasta recipes, pie recipes and more to add a creamy texture and taste.

It is especially good for pasta dishes in replacement of cheese.

Chefs vegan white sauce recipe can be made thick or thin in conistency, it all depends on the amount of soya milk you add to the white sauce.





Ingredients for vegan white sauce recipe

1 Tbsp Vegan margarine
1 + 1/2 Tbsp Plain flour
300ml Soya milk
pinch Salt
pinch Nutmeg
1 Bay leaf
Extra soya milk
How to make a vegan white roux sauce

Melt the margarine in a heavy based pan along with the flour, keep stiring for 2-3 minutes.


Pour in 100ml of soya milk keep stiring.


The milk and flour mixture will thicken up.


When the white sauce thickens pour in another 100ml of milk, keep stiring.



Repeat the process then add the bay leaf, salt and nutmeg.



Keep simmering and stiring.

Keep adding more milk until you reach the desired consistency.

Some recipes call for a thick white sauce, other recipes call for a more thin roux.

Once the 300ml of milk has been added, from then on only add a little milk at a time.

Remove the bay leaf after cooking.

The lumps should disolve as you stir the white sauce, if there is still lumps in the white sauce simply pour the sauce through a seieve and use the back of a spoon to make sure the lumps are pushed through the seive along with the liquid, pour back into the pan and carry on cooking.
