0 Vanilla and Chocolate Short Cake Recipe

This short cake recipe is double delicious!

It is easy to bake and utterly tasty .

The two layers of this short cake recipe makes it extra special. It does not take very long to cook and once cooled tastes a real treat for a sweet snack craving!

Approx 4 1/2 oz Margarine
8 tsp White Sugar
8 tsp Powder Sugar
2 Cups Plain Flour
Tiny Pinch Salt (optional)
Few Drops Vanilla Essence
1 tsp Cocoa Powder
1-2 Handfuls Raw Almonds

Place your butter and all your sugar into a bowl. Mix well.

Place half of your butter mix into a separate bowl and put to the side. Now add half (1 cup) of your flour with a very tiny pinch of salt(optional).

Add some drops of vanilla and mix it all up together. Your mixture will come together like clumps, keep mixing and you will be left with a ball.

Roll your short cake mixture into a round ball. On a greased and floured board roll it out into a flat round.

Now repeat the process with the other half of your ingredients. Sieve in your flour with your cocoa powder and a tiny pinch of salt(optional). Stir into a ball and roll out into a flat round - as similar as the already rolled out vanilla short cake mix as possible.

Grease and flour a tin/dish and first place your white vanilla short cake mix onto it. Cover with the chocolate short cake mix. Place a plate on top and gently cut around the edges for a neat finish.

Roughly chop some raw almonds and lightly scatter and press on top.

Press a knife into your short cake in quarters then once more. Don't cut right through just press so you can see the lines a little deep.

Place in a pre heated oven at 160 C for 15 minutes or until golden. Once cooked cut into slices then leave to cool (as you can see my hubby couldn't wait and decided to take some nuts off the top!).

Sprinkle with fine caster sugar.

Leave to completely cool (they won't taste nice warm).

If you want more biscuit-ness to this recipe of short cake, once cooled, you can put all the slices back into a hot oven this time for 5 - 10 minutes only - again wait for them to cool. If you do like them this way do keep checking on them because it doesn't take long.
